Repeaters

A repeater is a physical layer device used to interconnect the media segments of an extended network.A repeater essentially enables a series of cable segments to be treated as a single cable.Repeaters receive signals and transmit them at their original strength and definition. This increases the practical length of a cable.Installing cable segments enables signals to travel further.Repeaters are incapable of performing complex filtering and other traffic processing.

Network Adapters

Network Adapters are often called as Network Interface Cards(NIC).it is a computer circuit board or card that is installed in a computer so that it can be connected to a network.Personal computers and workstations on a local area network(LAN)typically contain a network interface card(NIC) specifically designed for the LAN transmission technology, such as Ethernet or Token Ring.Network Interface Card provides a dedicated, full time connection to a network.
